Quick Addition – Mental Math Game for Kids 8–9
What your child learns
- Adds two-digit numbers mentally
- Uses regrouping (carrying)
- Checks answers by estimating
About this game
Quick Addition builds mental math with two-digit sums, including ones that need regrouping, also called carrying. Your child reads a sum and taps the correct answer from three choices. The wrong choices are close to the right answer, so children need to work the sum out rather than guess. That is good practice for estimating too: an answer should be about the size you expect. Each game has five sums, which takes just a few minutes. Encourage your child to explain how they solved one sum out loud, for example by adding the tens first and then the ones, because talking through a strategy makes it stronger.
Questions parents ask
What kind of sums are included?
Two-digit additions with answers under 100, most of which need regrouping.
Can my child use paper?
Yes. Working on paper is fine at first. Over time, aim for solving the sums in their head.
