Lesson 2: F and J

Every touch typist starts here. Feel for the small bumps on the F and J keys: your left pointer finger rests on F and your right pointer finger rests on J. From these two anchor keys your other fingers find their places without looking down.

Press the space bar with whichever thumb feels comfortable, and keep your wrists low and relaxed. Go slowly at first: in this lesson accuracy matters far more than speed, and 5 words per minute is enough to earn a star.

Goal: type at 5 words per minute with at least 90% accuracy to master the lesson and earn up to three stars.
