About this game

Rhyme Pairs mixes a memory game with rhyming, one of the strongest predictors of early reading success. Instead of finding two identical pictures, your child looks for two pictures whose names rhyme, such as cat and hat, or moon and spoon. Saying the names out loud is part of the fun, so encourage your child to say each word as a card turns over. When two cards do not rhyme, they flip back and your child can try again with no penalty. Children who hear rhymes easily find it easier to spot patterns in spelling later. Keep the rhyming going at bedtime with favorite rhyming books.

Questions parents ask

Why does rhyming matter?

Do the cards show words?
