Name the Shape – Shapes Game for Kids 5–6
What your child learns
- Names basic flat shapes
- Tells similar shapes apart
- Listens to and follows instructions
About this game
Name the Shape helps children learn and use the correct names for basic flat shapes: circle, square, triangle and star. Bloo asks for a shape and your child taps the right one from three choices. The instructions are read aloud and also shown in simple words, so early readers can follow along with the text. Knowing shape names supports geometry in school and helps children describe the world around them. Once your child is confident, talk about how the shapes are different: a triangle has three sides and three corners, a square has four equal sides, and a circle has no corners at all.
Questions parents ask
Which shapes are included?
Circles, squares, triangles and stars, the shapes most children learn first.
Is this harder than Shape Match?
Yes, a little. Shape Match is about matching outlines, while Name the Shape asks children to know each shape's name.
